Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is proud to announce that Dr. Anita Bhagavathula, a distinguished alumna and board-certified gastroenterologist, has joined Austin Gastroenterology in Austin, Texas. Bhagavathula specializes in colon cancer screening, liver disease, nutrition, weight management, GERD, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Bhagavathula completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia and earned her graduate degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from LMU-DCOM in 2018. Her postgraduate training includes residency at Corpus Christi Medical Center and a fellowship at Larkin Community Hospital.
“Over the years, medical research on the topic of gut health and how it relates to mental and physical wellbeing has grown exponentially,” she explained. “One of the most meaningful parts of my job is to translate the results of these studies to my patients in a way that helps them understand their disease process and take control of their overall health.”
Bhagavathula’s new role at Austin Gastroenterology, part of GI Alliance, reflects the high caliber of professionals trained at LMU-DCOM.
